I am now the proud owner of a chest X-ray that I've been told to take home and frame on my wall or something, because all Health Services Australia really wants is a letter from the X-ray people saying I've got a fine chest. *ahem*
I've also found out that I've grown half a centimetre shorter (167.5cm now), lost 2 kilograms ("Where?! From your earlobes?!" - Graham Fry) and now have a magnificent bruise thanks to good ol' blood-letting for HIV. All for Immigration.
Meanwhile, the latest update is that Tony now owns a mobile phone. Now, you have to understand that this is nothing short of a miracle in some ways. It's akin to Luke from the Gilmore Girls turning in the "No Mobile Phone" sign in his cafe as he most grudgingly gets connected. Tony's resisted it for a long time, reckoning it's a waste of money really (he exempts me from that judgement, because he figures I need the phone to stay in touch with my mother via SMS).
However, now that he's standing at the threshold of Married Life, he's starting to realise that with his travelling to Sydney and Melbourne for business now and then, a mobile phone would be an excellent way to stay in touch - especially in the event of a crisis. He's getting a prepaid card, because the mobile's gonna be more of a safeguard than anything else.
I spent the last half hour teaching him how to use it, and the next fifteen minutes trying to compose Bittersweet Symphony by ear. (His special request, for when I call. Heh.) He seems almost amused that it's come down to this.
Such is love.

Kewl... mine's on the 18th as well, although it'll only last for a day. [The idea is to let everyone else party and at about 10pm, Tony and I will just GO. :0)]
What are Malay weddings traditionally like?
By Velle, at 1:45 pm
its a long elaborate (read:boring) affair starting with the solemnization ceremony then sitting on the dias while ppl take photos with u then finally the wedding reception usually takes two days with the solemnization ceremony on one day (mine's on 18th) and the reception on the next (mine's 19th). Not forgetting about 10 rolls film of photos worth of smiling !! 18th is a half day affair (thank god) while 19th will b a long drawn out day starting from my family's side (at my house) then the whole entourage will go to his side (his parents') i feel tired juz talking abt it.. hehehe
Y r u getting in Aussie? Ur beau is an Aussie? so ur whole family flying over ?? yup I'm a Sing PR. u Aussie PR?

Sure... link away!
Yes, Tony's an 'Aussie Bloke', as they say. We're having the solemnisation in Australia because it'll work out to be a lot less hassle in the long-run. Not sure about immigration processing in Singapore (having been a citizen all this while), but it's increasingly difficult getting PR in Australia - even though we're genuine cases.
As I like to say: 'Mail Order Bride till proven otherwise!'
I've never actually been to a Malay wedding, only seen them from afar at void decks! Where are you having yours, and what colours are your wearing?! So exciting...

Tony's colleague had gotten a new phone and so had passed him her Nokia 3210. It's still in tip-top working condition, so that was good!
Yes, he's been THAT resistant to such technology. Not all technology, mind you... I've seen him salivate over Tablets before so hey, he's not adverse to a giant PC masquerading as a pocket PDA which is great for me I suppose...
The half hour was probably just more of me removing the previous owner's address book, cleaning out her inbox, teaching him how to SMS, and rediscovering Composer. It's probably more of my toy than his, really...
